Lee Gilbert, emeritus professor of modern languages and literatures at California State University, Fullerton, received the Faculty Leadership in Collegial Governance award. Gilbert has been teaching German at Cal State Fullerton for 35 years.
The University of California, Irvine’s Merage School of Business Center for Real Estate awarded CB Richard Ellis Group Inc. the 18th Annual Lifetime Achievement award.
Ernst & Young presented Larry Broughton, president of Huntington Beach-based Broughton Hospitality Group Inc., with a 2006 award in the emerging entrepreneur category for Orange County and Arizona. Broughton Hospitality manages 14 hotels.
The Embassy Suites Hotel Anaheim South won the Large Business of the Year award by the Garden Grove Chamber of Commerce. The hotel was recognized for its involvement and contribution to the city and the chamber.
James Bova, senior manager in Deloitte Consulting LLP’s Strategic Clients department, was recognized as a Volunteer of the Year by Orangewood Child-ren’s Foundation. Bova was honored for assisting the Orangewood staff in selecting and implementing a new software system for its Families and Communities Together program.
Irvine-based Ignite Health, a healthcare advertising agency, received honors in four awards competitions: DTC National Advertising Awards, World Wide Web Health Awards, PlanetOut Inc. Advertising Awards and the 2006 Webby Awards.
The Irvine Chamber of Commerce and city of Irvine selected Nadia Babayi as its 2005 Citizen of the Year and Irvine-based engineering company Hall & Foreman Inc. as Business of the Year.
Assemblywoman Mimi Walters, R-Laguna Niguel, received the Legislator of the Year Award from the California In-dependent Oil Mark-eters Association. Walters represents the 73rd Assembly District, which covers OC and San Diego County.
Marian Bergeson, a former California state legislator and OC supervisor, received the Transportation Corridor Agencies’ 2006 Visionary award. The award honors individuals who have worked toward developing OC’s toll road system.
The California Child Development Administrators Association named Dee Tucker, Rancho Community College District executive director of child development services, 2006 Member of the Year.
Steve Norton, founder of Steve Norton Perspectives, an event design and production company in Costa Mesa, was recognized as one of the top creative directors by Event Solutions Magazine. The publication named Norton a finalist in the 2006 Event Solutions Spotlight Award for Creative Director of the Year. He was featured in the magazine’s June issue.
