The California Restaurant Association honored Modesto Diaz of Irvine-based Susan’s Healthy Gourmet as foodservice employee of the year in the manager category.
Tom Turner, president of Garden Grove-based long-term care equipment supplier CaReSS, received the California Association Health Facilities 2002 distinguished service award. Richard MacFarlane of Irvine-based medical equipment supplier HPSI also won the distinguished service award.
Indiana University bestowed the Henry A. Russo medal on James M. Greenfield of Newport Beach for his lifetime achievement in hospital fund raising and philanthropic works.
Newport Beach resident Charlene Murphy of Benchmark Storage Innovations was awarded the 2002 outstanding woman in business award in the technology and telecommunications industries by the Denver Business Journal. Murphy commutes from her OC home to Boulder, Colo., as Benchmark’s executive vice president of sales and marketing.
The Newport Beach Conference & Visitors Bureau earned the gold service award from Meetings & Conventions magazine. Meanwhile, the Sutton Place Hotel in Newport Beach was awarded the gold key award from the magazine and the hospitality member of the year award from the Newport Beach Conference & Visitors Bureau.
Dr. David Furnas received the American Medical Association’s distinguished service award. Furnas, a clinical professor, is the chief of plastic surgery and director of the plastic surgery residency program at the University of California, Irvine.
Irvine-based Sabritec won Boeing Co.’s International Space Station Program exceptional company performance award for 2001.
Joseph D. Davis, president of Irvine Community Development Co., has been named the 2002 recipient of the City of Hope’s spirit of life award.
Harold S. Schultz of Laguna Hills and Hamid Kabani of Anaheim Hills have accepted one-year terms on the Group of One Hundred, an advisory board organized by the American Institute of CPAs. Schultz is a PricewaterhouseCoopers partner in Irvine. Kabani is president of Kabani & Co. in Fountain Valley. Both are members of the California Society of CPAs.
