Samuelis Add Star on Walk of Stars in Anaheim
Henry and Susan Samueli received their third star on the Anaheim/Orange County Walk of Stars in Anaheim’s Resort District. The Samuelis are owners of the Anaheim Ducks and the management company for Honda Center. Henry Samueli is cofounder and chairman of Irvine’s Broadcom Corp. The Samueli Foundation has granted more than $200 million to nonprofits in the areas of education, health, social services, religion and the arts. The Walk of Stars honors visionary leaders and entrepreneurs who have made positive national and international impacts on Anaheim and Orange County.
Santa Ana’s Santiago Street Lofts, developed by Urban West and Lennar Corp., were awarded the Best in American Living Platinum Award for Best Attached Urban Infill Development. Santiago Street Lofts was also honored as a finalist for the 2006 Gold Nugget Award for Best Live/Work Project. The project is made up of lofts and workspace for entrepreneurs and small-business owners.
Goldline Research, a list research and publishing company that specializes in investigating company performance through its 10 Most Dependable lists, named Dana Point’s Job Dr. Inc. one of the 10 Most Dependable Recruit-ing and Staffing Firms for 2007.
Assembly member Jim Silva honored Dolores “Nina” Hull as Woman of the Year for the 67th Assembly District. Hull has been involved in volunteer and community groups. She was the former chairman of the Orange County Commission on the Status of Women, a member of the board for the Huntington Beach Youth Shelter, recipient of the Small Business and the Environment Award and previously was honored as Volunteer of the Year by the Republican Party of Orange County.
Residential real estate brokerage Prudential California Realty named the Immel Team in Monarch Beach No. 1 in volume and gross commission income for 2006.
The Costa Mesa Chamber of Commerce and South Coast Metro Alliance presented the Community Spirit Award to Sandy Segerstrom Daniels. Daniels is founder and executive director of Festival of Children Foundation. The foundation provides training, support and directs grants to more than 100 youth-serving groups. Daniels sits on the board of the Orange County Performing Arts Center, where she is vice chair of support groups.
Robert J. Younger of the Younger Law Firm in Newport Beach was selected as one of the Top 100 Southern Cali-fornia Super Lawyers in 2007. Younger specializes in civil trial litigation.
Irvine’s KTGY Group Inc. earned silver awards at the National Association of Home Builders show in Florida. Its Oceana design won for Best Single Family Detached Home $400,000-$650,000. Also at the show, KTGY received two silver Best in American Living Awards for its Bayside neighborhood designs. The American Institute of Architects, San Fernando Valley chapter, honored KTGY with the Design Excellence Award.
Paul Marx celebrated his 50th year practicing law. Marx, senior trusts and estates partner at Rutan & Tucker LLP, graduated from Harvard Law School in 1956.
Michael Brandman Associates’ Michael Hendrix received the Association of Environ-mental Professionals’ Professional Achieve-ment Award. Other awards received by the company: Outstanding Environmental Re-source Document Award for the production of the Glen Helen Specific Plan & Resource Management Plan and the Environmental Business Journal Project Merit Award.
The California Head Start Association board named Alicia Young the 2007 Parent of the Year. Young has volunteered nearly 3,500 hours to Orange County Head Start Inc. and has held several leadership positions. She is a sign language speaker in both English and Spanish.
Barbara Hamkalo and Lyman Porter were named Edward A. Dickson Emeriti Professors. Hamkalo is a professor emerita of molecular biology and biochemistry and Porter is a professor emeritus of business. The endowed professorships are awarded annually for up to three years to support research, teaching or service efforts of retired faculty members.
