Irvine Co. Makes Exec Changes

The Irvine Co. announced several changes to its executive management team on Thursday, including a replacement for the retiring Joe Davis, who has headed up the Newport Beach-based company’s housing development efforts since 1997.

OC 50’er Davis, president and chief executive of the company’s Irvine Community Development Co., announced his retirement on Thursday, effective October 1. His division directs development of homes on company-owned land, including communities such as Shady Canyon and Crystal Cove.

His position is being filled by Dan Young, the former mayor of Santa Ana. Young joined the Irvine Co. in 1999, most recently serving as executive vice president of entitlement and public affairs.

Also being promoted: Tony Russo, who’s been named the company’s group senior vice president of corporate affairs, which is responsible for government relations and corporate marketing.

Russo is replacing Larry Thomas, a 20-year veteran of the Irvine Co. and a confidante of Chairman Donald Bren. Thomas announced his retirement earlier this month, effective mid-September.

The company also announced that Gregory Lindstrom, a litigation expert with Latham & Watkins, will soon be joining the firm as the head of its general counsel and legal department.

Lindstrom and Young will report to Chief Executive Michael McKee, while Russo will report to Lindstrom.
