Harbor National Bank is planning to expand its Orange County presence even further after it opens its Newport Beach branch in the summer.
The bank is looking to open another branch in Foothill Ranch or Anaheim in the next year.
“We’re pretty excited about our prospects. There’s a tremendous opportunity for independent banking. With bank consolidations going on, they’ve (larger banks) lost site of the smaller businesses,” said bank president and CEO David Blankenhorn.
The bank just changed its name from Dana Niguel, since “Dana Niguel is a pretty restrictive name,” Blankenhorn said.
The bank has $45 million in assets. Before a loan write-off and a settlement with the bank’s former president, the bank had earnings of $283,000 for 1999.
The bank is also launching an Internet site.
“We’re not going for the national stuff, but for our customers,” Blankenhorn said.
