Orange-based GVD Commercial Properties and joint-venture partner Western Signature Properties Corp. said they expect to begin work this month on the 95-acre Dunia Plaza at the southwest corner of Bear Valley Road and Interstate 15 in Victorville.
The first phase of the mixed-use center will feature a Lowe’s Home Improvement Center, about 8,000 square feet of satellite stores, six restaurants and an Ultramar service station. The first phase will be built on 35 acres.
“This is the premier site in Victorville,” said Ed Bach, project manager for GVD, noting its location along Interstate 15 near the Mall of Victor Valley.
The developers also have inked Dallas-based Cinemark USA Inc. to build a 20-screen theater. The movie house will cover 20 acres and have 3,500 stadium seats, Bach said. Cinemark operates a 10-screen theater at the Mall of Victor Valley.
Bach declined to release the names of other prospective retailers and restaurants because the leases still are being negotiated.
Bear Valley Partners’ plans for the remaining 40 acres are still tentative. The group is considering additional stores, a hotel and other entertainment elements such as a go-cart track, a bowling alley and an ice rink.
In December, Westland Commercial Inc. of Costa Mesa announced plans to develop 40 acres of retail on a nearby site.
