Video game developer Frost Giant Studios in Irvine said it has raised $25 million in Series A funding to expand its headquarters, recruit additional workers, purchase tech upgrades, and create a real-time strategy game for “die-hard fans and new players alike.”
Frost Giant said its first game will be announced later this year.

The new investment was led by South Korean game developer and publisher Kakao Games, with participation from previous investors BITKRAFT Ventures, Global Founders Capital, and Riot Games, and new investors Gaingels and MANTIS Venture Capital.
Frost Giant Studios was founded in 2020 by games industry veterans Tim Morten and Tim Campbell, both of them formerly with Blizzard Entertainment.
“We are grateful to Kakao Games and our other investors who share our vision for the future of the real-time strategy genre,” said Morten, CEO and production director at Frost Giant.
In October of 2020, Frost Giant Studios announced $4.7 million in seed funding, followed by an additional $5 million raised in March 2021, bringing its total funding to $34.7 million.
