Aliso Viejo-based Fluor Corp. said Tuesday it won a pact to provide engineering and construction management services at a chemical plant in Kuwait.
The contract value was not disclosed. Last year Fluor won a management consultancy contract for the project, a $1 billion-plus venture of Midland, Mich.-based Dow Chemical Co. and Kuwait’s Petrochemical Industries Co.
The plant is being built about 25 miles south of Kuwait City in Shuaiba. The completed facility will double the production capacity at an existing complex.
Construction started in March with completion set for 2008.
Fluor is active in the Mideast. It is working on several reconstruction contracts in Iraq and has done engineering work on other Kuwaiti facilities in the past, including a $237 million deal to rebuild a damaged oil and gas operation with South Korea’s SK Engineering in 2002.
