HomeBase Inc., Irvine, reported a net loss of $1.1 million on sales of $365.8 million for its first quarter ended April 29, compared with net income of $0.7 million on sales of $365.3 million in the first quarter of 1999. The company attributed most of this quarter’s loss to expenses related to development of its House to Home retail concept. It plans to open five test stores in Las Vegas and Southern California this year.

Wet Seal Inc., Foothill Ranch, reported net income of $2.2 million on sales of $130.6 million for its fiscal first quarter ended April 29, compared with net income of $4.4 million on sales of $122.8 million in the previous first quarter. Same-store sales were down 4.6% during the quarter, compared with a 2.9% increase for the same period a year ago. In addition, same-store sales were down 5.5% for the first two weeks of May, the company said.

QLogic Corp., Aliso Viejo, posted earnings of $13.5 million on revenue of $60.1 million in the fiscal fourth quarter ended April 2, compared with earnings of $8.5 million on revenue of $35.1 million in the previous fourth quarter. For the fiscal year, the company reported earnings of $54.0 million on revenue of $203.1 million, compared with earnings of $25.7 million on revenue of $117.2 in the prior year.

Odetics Inc., Anaheim, reported a net loss of $13.9 million on revenue of $18.9 million for its fourth quarter ended March 31, compared with a net loss of $6.8 million on revenue of $21.3 million for the previous fourth quarter. For the year, the company posted a net loss of $2.3 million on revenue of $80.7 million, vs. a net loss of $20.1 million on revenue of $83.4 million in the prior fiscal year.

Irvine-based American National Financial Inc. reported a loss of $0.3 million on revenue of $17.7 million for the quarter ended March 31, compared with earnings of $2.8 million on revenue of $24.4 million for the first quarter of 1999.

Tickets.com Inc., Costa Mesa, posted a net loss of $21.6 million on revenue of $14.1 million for the first quarter ended March 31, compared with a net loss of $6 million on revenue of $6.6 million in the first quarter of 1999. Revenue from ticket sales grew 61% year-to-year.

Newport Beach-based American Vanguard Corp. reported earnings of $77,800 on revenue of $11.8 million for the first quarter of 2000, compared to a net loss of $525,400 on revenue of $10.2 million for the same period in 1999.

McGlen Internet Group Inc., Tustin, reported a $2.6 million net loss on sales of $10.9 million for its fiscal fourth quarter ended Dec. 31, compared with earnings of $163,000 on sales of $4 million in the previous fourth quarter. For the year, the company reported a $3.5 million net loss on sales of $27.5 million, compared with earnings of $58,000 on sales of $11.5 million the year before.

Irvine-based Comarco Inc. reported earnings of $0.9 million on revenue of $10.1 million for the first quarter ended March 31, compared with earnings of $0.6 million on revenue of $7.8 million for the first quarter of 1999.

Irvine-based Prolong International Corp. reported earnings of $640,800 on sales of $7.8 million for the first quarter of 2000, compared with a net loss of $127,900 on sales of $9.7 million for the 1999 first quarter.

Pacific Mercantile Bank, Newport Beach, reported a net loss of $0.2 million on net interest income of $1.0 million for the first quarter ended March 31, compared with a net loss of $1.2 million on net interest income of $0.6 million for the fourth quarter ended Dec. 31. The bank started operations on March 1, 1999.

Aviation Distributors Inc., Lake Forest, reported earnings of $0.1 million on revenue of $8.3 million for the first quarter ended March 31, compared with a net loss of $0.1 million on revenue of $7.7 million for first quarter of 1999.

MAI Systems Corp., Irvine, reported a net loss of $1.2 million on revenue of $9.0 million for the first quarter ended March 31, compared with earnings of $1.2 million on revenue of $16.1 million for the 1999 quarter.

Radiance Medical Systems Inc., Irvine, posted a net loss of $1.4 million on sales of $2.4 million for the first quarter ended March 31, compared with $6.3 million on sales of $1.7 million in the prior first quarter.

Biolase Technology Inc., San Clemente, posted a net loss of $1 million on sales of $1.5 million for the first quarter ended March 31, compared with a net loss of $0.7 million on sales of $1.7 million in the prior first quarter.

Nexell Therapeutics Inc., Irvine, posted a net loss of $7.7 million on revenue of $4.7 million in the first quarter ended March 31, compared with a net loss of $6.1 million on revenue of $5.5 million in the prior first quarter.

Micro Therapeutics Inc., Irvine, posted a net loss of $2.5 million on sales of $1.1 million in the first quarter ended March 31, compared with a net loss of $3.5 million on sales of $0.8 million for the prior first quarter.

ChromaVision Medical Systems Inc., San Juan Capistrano, posted a net loss of $3.2 million on sales of $0.2 million in the first quarter ended March 31, compared with a net loss of $2.3 million on sales of $15,785 for the prior first quarter.

Medstone International Inc., Aliso Viejo, reported earnings of $0.9 million on revenue of $6.1 million for the first quarter ended March 31, compared with net income of $0.5 million on net income of $4.9 million in the prior first quarter.

California Coastal Communities Inc., Irvine, posted earnings of $0.4 million (including a $1.1 million one-time gain and $0.5 million in investment income) on no revenue in the first calendar quarter, compared with a net loss of $0.8 million on no revenue in the first quarter of 1999.

Orange-based BYL Bancorp reported a loss of $260,000 on revenue of $4.6 million for the first calendar quarter, compared with earnings of $459,000 on revenue of $3.7 million for the first quarter of 1999.

Sync Research Inc., Irvine, reported a $1.1 million net loss on sales of $3.2 million for the first quarter ended March 31, compared with a $1.7 million loss on sales of $5.1 million the same period last year.

Dense-Pac Microsystems Inc., Garden Grove, reported earnings of $0.9 million on sales of $6.5 million for its fiscal fourth quarter ended Feb. 29, compared with earnings of $14,000 on sales of $4.2 million in the same quarter the year before. For the year, the company reported earnings of $2.6 million on sales of $27.5 million, compared with a $3.6 million net loss on sales of $12.6 million the year before.
