Crystal Cove at Newport Coast Moves from Bold Concept to Exciting Reality

Prospective Buyers Enthusiastic about Luxury Homes and Villas

As this distinctive coastal enclave inspired by historic Santa Barbara and Palos Verdes rapidly takes shape, Crystal Cove at Newport Coast is progressing from a bold concept to an exciting reality for the few buyers who will be calling this unique ocean-view community their home.

Nestled above Pacific Coast Highway, Crystal Cove is located within the coastal hills of Newport Coast and is only minutes away from Laguna Beach, Newport Beach and Irvine.

Many of the signature elements of the community are falling into place, including its well-planned overall landscape structure, and the beginnings of charming neighborhoods of amenity-packed homes that reflect the timeless, beautifully designed Spanish colonial style architecture.

Entry Pavilion Features Distinctive Gates

Among the most notable of new Crystal Cove landmarks is the distinctive entry pavilion, where a sweeping tree-lined drive leads visitors to the unique gates that mark the grand entrance at Crystal Heights Drive.

The architects took cues from Mother Nature and mankind when they set about creating the design for the entry gates, which represent a visual metaphor for the surroundings of Crystal Cove, from the waterfront below to the sky above.

Other aspects of the community’s charming entry and streetscape, including its stone-clad entry pylons and broad avenues lit by distinctive lampposts, are also in place, while broader landscape gestures, including the abundant use of trees and shrubs, are well under way.

“A core element of its unique coastal location is the abundance of adjacent open space that includes plans for many walking and hiking trails,” said Rob Elliott, senior vice president of urban planning and design for the Irvine Community Development Company. “We wanted the plan for Crystal Cove to be harmonious with the surrounding countryside,” he said.

The community lies above the historical Crystal Cove State Park, representing more than 2,000 acres of natural coastline, wilderness and parklands, as well as a beach, and is bordered by the Pelican Hill Golf Club, Los Trancos Canyon, Muddy Canyon, and the open space of Newport Coast.

Homes That are Elegant in Their Simplicity

According to Elliott, in keeping with the architectural character established for Crystal Cove, the homes are elegant in their simplicity, featuring traditional stucco walls and expressive detailing.

As hundreds of prospective buyers who have already visited can already attest, the homes of Crystal Cove are indeed remarkable, featuring courtyards, decorative tile accents, towers, shaped wood rafter tails, classical stucco eaves, decorative chimneys, and wrought iron details in balconies and windows.

“We believe that Crystal Cove will be as much a state of mind as it will be an uncompromising coastal community,” said Elliott. “That’s the thinking behind our theme line, ‘A Pacific Canvas’. It means that each resident will have a chance to ‘paint’ his own unique portrait of life in an incomparable resort-like setting where others may only visit.”
