The Orange County Business Journal has moved to a larger office near John Wayne Airport in Irvine.
The weekly business newspaper signed a 10-year lease at Irvine Towers, a five-building complex owned and managed by Irvine Company.
The Business Journal leased 7,819 square feet of space on the first floor of 18500 Von Karman Ave. An Orange County Business Journal sign is set to go up on the outside of the first floor of the 11-story building.
The new building is across the street from the Business Journal’s old office at 2600 Michelson Drive. There, the paper had leased 7,442 square feet of space for the past 10 years.
The Business Journal outgrew its former space and sought to move amid a favorable time for tenants during the downturn. The paper employs 43 people in editorial, advertising, production and administration.
“We needed more space,” said Richard Reisman, Business Journal publisher. “We foresee the need for additional space to accommodate growth.”
Irvine Towers, at Von Karman and Michelson, also is home to the headquarters of grocery wholesaler Advantage Sales & Marketing LLC, business software maker Epicor Software Corp. and units of Experian Group Ltd. and Pfizer Inc.
Irvine Co. bought what then was Irvine Center Towers in early 2006 for an estimated $325 million. It quickly added a 10-story, 231,178-square-foot building to the complex and changed the site’s name to Irvine Towers.
The complex was built in the 1980s by Don Koll’s Koll Development Co. and originally was called the Koll Center Irvine Office Complex. It was bought in 2001 for an undisclosed sum by Cigna Corp. and Transwestern Commercial Services.
The Business Journal’s new address is 18500 Von Karman Ave., Ste. 150, Irvine 92612. Our phone number is unchanged at (949) 833-8373. We can be reached online at www.ocbj.com.
