Heavyweight
AMID A BRUISING RUN FOR STOCKS OF COMPANIES IN OC AND ELSEWHERE, there was a news blurb by Reuters last week that underscored Irvine-based Broadcom Corp.’s emergence as a technology heavyweight. To quote:
“The improved market sentiment, which follows Wednesday’s gut-wrenching plunge, was spurred by good results from software giant Microsoft Corp., top Internet services provider America Online Inc. and communications chip maker Broadcom Corp., in addition to mobile phone giant Nokia Corp.”
It was just a passing reference in which Broadcom was placed among industry giants as a market mover. Not a reason to strike up the band, perhaps, but worth noting.
