Fullerton-based Beckman Coulter Inc., a maker of instruments and supplies for medical testing and research, said Wednesday it renewed contracts worth $94 million annually with Georgia’s MedAssets Supply Chain Systems, a buying group for 2,500 hospitals and other healthcare providers.
The contracts are for three years. Hospitals and other healthcare providers that contract with MedAssets for supplies are set to buy testing machines and chemicals from Beckman Coulter.
Besides hospitals, MedAssets supplies some 30,000 other healthcare providers. Orange-based St. Joseph Health Systems, which runs three Orange County hospitals, is a MedAssets customer.
Late last month, Beckman Coulter reported third-quarter sales that fell short of Wall Street expectations because of slower business selling to medical researchers and a supply disruption.
The company also narrowed its profit outlook for 2007 to $203 million to $206 million, from an earlier forecast of $200 million to $209 million.
Beckman expects yearly sales growth of 7% to 9% to $2.71 billion to $2.76 billion.
