The who’s who of the apparel world is set to mosh with what’s next at the Action Sports Retailers show this weekend at the San Diego Convention Center.
This year’s show likely will be the year of the girl.
“Women and girls have been supercharging the entire (clothing) side of the industry,” said Kevin Flanagan, ASR show director.
The show is a regular for nearly all Orange County apparel makers, including Huntington Beach-based Quiksilver Inc., Irvine’s Billabong USA and Lake Forest-based Sole Technology Inc.
Some planned highlights:
An exhibit of skateboarding history and vintage boards at the Powell Peralta Museum.
Live music and on-the-spot jamming by showgoers at the Fender Acousti Shack.
The ASR and Elle Girl magazine fashion show on opening day at 5 p.m.
Signing of Independent Truck Co.’s new skateboarder photo book “Built to Grind: 25 Years of Hardcore Skateboarding” on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
Vintage surfboard sale at the Pacific Coast vintage surf auction on Saturday at 7 p.m. The auction preview is Saturday at 4 p.m.
