Advanced Medical Optics Inc. of Santa Ana said Tuesday that it wrapped up its $1.3 billion cash and stock buy of Visx Inc.
Shareholders of both Advanced Medical and Santa Clara-based Visx approved the deal late last week.
Advanced Medical, which makes ophthalmic devices and contact lens solutions, first said it planned to acquire Visx in November. Visx makes lasers to correct vision.
The Visx deal was Advanced Medical’s second big buy announced in 2004. The company also paid $450 million to buy Pfizer Inc.’s cataract surgery business last year.
With Visx in the fold, Advanced Medical stands to break the $1 billion annual sales mark, up from $742 million last year.
The combined company is set to keep the Advanced Medical name and Santa Ana headquarters. Visx’s laser device operations are expected to remain in Santa Clara.
Shares of Advanced Medical were down a hair to $38.6 on Tuesday.
