AMDL Inc., a Tustin developer and marketer of tests for the early detection of cancer, earlier this month made its first shipment of cancer tests to Taichung, Taiwan-based Chinese Universal Technology Co. Ltd. The shipment is part of a recently announced $2.4 million purchase order.
The tests will be used as part of a nationwide cancer-screening program in Taiwan, where CUTC expects to test more than 3 million Taiwanese during the next year.
AMDL’s cancer test has undergone clinical trials in Canada, Taiwan, China, Turkey and Chile, detecting up to 13 common types of cancer with at least 84% reliability. In the U.S., the test has been made available to physicians and laboratories under a research exemption granted by the Food and Drug Administration.
