Irvine drug maker Allergan Inc. said Thursday that it integrated the commercial and research and development operations of Inamed Corp. into a new unit called Allergan Medical.
The unit includes Botox Cosmetic, hyaluronic acid and collagen-based skin fillers, breast implants and the Lap-Band adjustable stomach banding system to treat obesity.
Allergan said that it would keep a presence in Santa Barbara,Inamed’s former headquarters.
Medical aesthetic research and development, customer and patient service, and quality assurance work will be done there.
Robert Grant, former chief executive of Irvine device maker Biolase Technology Inc. will oversee Allergan Medical as president.
Allergan bought Inamed this spring for $3.2 billion.
