QLogic Corp., an Aliso Viejo provider of infrastructure for storage area networks, last week announced the integration of its fibre channel adapters into network servers at Irvine-based Toshiba America Information Systems Inc.
QLogic’s products control the flow of data among storage systems, tape libraries and network servers. The Toshiba unit has annual sales of approximately $2.5 billion. It manufactures, markets and services business and information-oriented products in the U.S. and Latin America.
Also last week, QLogic announced that revenue for its second fiscal quarter rose to a record $87.6 million (see Earnings column on page 30).
The day after the contract and financial results were announced, the company’s shares opened at 79 1/2, up sharply from their close of 70 7/8 the day before.
The company has 353 employees in Orange County, and plans to accelerate hiring, according to a company spokesperson.
Companies using QLogic products include Compaq, Fujitsu, Hitachi, IBM, Siemens and Sun Microsystems.
