Burbank-based Walt Disney Co. will furlough nonessential employees across the U.S. as a result of the “devastating impact” of COVID-19, the company said in a Thursday statement.
The company said this week it will pay employees through April 18; furloughs begin the next day. Workers remain employees with access to health insurance and compensation coming as part of the recent relief stimulus package.
Disneyland Resort is the largest employer in Orange County with 32,000 local staff; Disney Co. has 223,000 across its global operations.
