Irvine-based software maker Kofax Ltd has agreed to pay $34.7 million in cash for Softpro GmbH, a German company that specializes in electronic signature software and services.
Kofax makes scanning software used by businesses to help streamline information flow and reduce costs. It has about 295 employees here, which landed the company at No. 7 on the latest Business Journal list of the largest software companies in Orange County, ranked by employee size.
Kofax, headed by Chief Executive Reynolds Bish, had $10 million in profit on $266 million in revenue during its fiscal 2013 through June.
It said it expects to complete the integration of Boeblingen, Germany-based Softpro by the end of calendar year 2014.
Softpro’s services include software for signature verification, fraud prevention and check processing. It serves clients in various industries, such as banking, healthcare and real estate.
The company has about 80 employees and had $13 million in revenue in 2013.
Kofax said Softpro’s principal shareholders—founder and Chief Executive Heinz Reschke and head of sales Peter Reschke—along with other employees will remain in their posts.
