San Clemente-based ICU Medical Inc. said today that it appointed Vivek Jain as its new chief executive, effective Feb. 13.

The device maker had started looking for a new chief executive since Dr. George Lopez, its founder, said last fall that he would retire from the CEO post. Steve Riggs, who had served as acting chief executive since Lopez’ retirement, is resuming his previous position as vice president of operations.
Jain was most recently president of the procedural solutions division of San Diego-based medical device maker CareFusion Corp. His background also includes stints at Dublin, Ohio-based Cardinal Health Inc., and 12 years with JPMorgan and predecessor companies.
