Paul Frank HQ Will Move to LA

Costa Mesa-based Paul Frank Industries LLC is moving its headquarters to the Los Angeles offices of its parent, an affiliate of Saban Capital Group Inc.

A Saban spokesperson confirmed the move.

“Paul Frank is adjusting its domestic retail strategy to focus more of its efforts on establishing stronger relationships with national retailers,” Saban said in a statement.

Paul Frank sells clothing, accessories, home décor and other products bearing cartoon-like characters, including the well-known Julius the monkey. The company’s products are sold at retailers such as Target, Kohl’s and Amazon.com.

The Costa Mesa office handled design work for the company and totaled six people, according to a recent Business Journal list.

Ryan Heuser, former chief creative officer, left the company earlier this year and was the last of the company’s three cofounders to leave.

Business decisions for Paul Frank have been handled out of Los Angeles since Saban’s 2010 purchase of the company for an estimated $50 million.

Saban has continued to license out its name and characters to several companies, most recently Chatsworth-based Loungefly for a new Paul Frank travel line and Parigi Group Ltd. of New York for children’s lines.
