Spanos Family Gives 500K for Harvey

The Los Angeles Chargers and owners the Spanos family on Friday announced a $500K donation for Hurricane Harvey victims.

The funds will be sent to several groups on the ground—including Houston Food Bank, American Red Cross and Houston SPCA.

“Watching the images coming out of Houston this week has been heartbreaking,” Chargers Chairman Dean Spanos said. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone in Southeast Texas, and we want them to know more help is on the way.”

Several Chargers players and coaches have family and friends directly affected by Hurricane Harvey. Harvey’s toll at Friday evening was 46 dead, and estimates of property damage as high as $200 billion—which would be a record for a U.S. natural disaster.

The Chargers maintain their practice facility and corporate HQ in Costa Mesa.
