Fontis Solutions in Irvine has been acquired by Dallas-based franchisor Safeguard Business Systems.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Fontis is an employee-owned commercial printer, with a product lineup that ranges from paper products to uniforms, point-of-sale displays and various other promotional items. It also provides fulfillment and marketing services.
The company had about $40 million in revenue last year and was founded in 1983. It changed its name to Fontis in 2011 to reflect its capacity as a “resource for creative brand messages in print, promotional merchandise, and online communications.”
Its clients include Irvine-based St. Joseph Health System, Mitsubishi Motors North America Inc. in Cypress, Irvine-based Mazda North American Operation, Denny’s Corp., Smart & Final Stores LLC, Forever 21, and Big 5 Sporting Goods Corp.
Safeguard Business Systems, owned by publicly traded Deluxe Corp. in St. Paul, Minn., has about 290 franchisees.
