Digital First Media appointed Henry Williamson to oversee sales strategies as vice president of advertising at The Orange County Register to “lead the planning and execution of sales strategies to drive advertising growth and retention,” the company said. “He will also play a leadership role in training, coaching and developing sales teams.”
Williamson is based at the Register’s current headquarters in Santa Ana and will also help guide the paper’s community involvement and daily business operations, as general manager over its print and digital efforts.
He had been senior director of digital sales at Digital First’s Los Angeles News Group, which became Southern California News Group when Digital First bought the Register and Riverside-based Press-Enterprise on March 31.
Williamson has 25 years in the media business and joined Digital First in 2012 as director of interactive sales; he has worked with the company’s Ad Taxi Networks, a digital marketing and advertising unit.
Southern California News Group now runs 11 daily newspapers and associated websites in Southern California, including the Los Angeles Daily News, Daily Breeze in Torrance, Long Beach Press-Telegram, Pasadena Star-News, San Gabriel Valley Tribune, Whittier Daily News, Inland Valley Daily Bulletin, San Bernardino Sun and Redlands Daily Facts.
