Mudgett’s New Gig: Workouts; OC Hosts Women VIPs

Dave Mudgett has spent four decades as a real estate executive building things-Columbia, Md. at the Rouse Co., Fashion Island under Donald Bren, retail centers in Rancho Santa Margarita and Shanghai under Don Koll, industrial parks and a Vail, Colo. hotel with Kevin Deighan (Timberline Commercial Real Estate, Irvine.) Now, in a sign of the times, he’s doing workouts of bankrupt projects. “We think there’s a lot of opportunity,” says 60-something Mudgett, new president of Paladin Asset Preservation & Management and Land Interests Inc., related entities owned by 41-year-old Erik Frechette. Irvine-based Paladin, an asset manager for court-appointed receivers, is working with 25 banks in 14 states including, of course, California …
