Irvine food maker and distributor Golden State Foods Corp.’s Quality Custom Distribution business said it plans on using Volvo electric trucks in its last-mile delivery fleet.
The 14 Volvo VNR Electric vehicles are expected to be integrated over the next two years for QCD’s last-mile routes in Southern California from the company’s Fontana distribution center.
QCD’s fleet currently numbers 700 Class 8 tractors, the unit that pulls a trailer.
The company said deployment should begin in the fall when the Volvo truck deliveries are expected to begin.
QCD, which is headquartered out of Frisco, Texas, works with restaurants to provide distribution services.
