MP Biomedicals LLC, Milan Panic’s Santa Ana-based maker of medical testing and research products, said Monday that it is buying a New Zealand company.
MP Biomedicals said it signed a deal to buy ICPbio International Ltd., which makes protein biologic products, such as serums, that are used by biotech and biopharmaceutical companies.
Financial terms weren’t disclosed.
Panic, a onetime prime minister of the former Yugoslavia, is best known as the founder and former chief executive of ICN Pharmaceuticals Inc.
MP Biomedicals traces its roots back to ICN Pharmaceuticals Inc., which Panic founded in 1959 and was ousted from by shareholders in 2002.
ICN now goes by Valeant Pharmaceuticals International and is based in Aliso Viejo.
