Ingram Micro Buys Minn. IT Provider

Santa Ana-based Ingram Micro Inc. acquired a Minnesota Internet technology provider to bolster its professional services offerings for its network of global resellers. Financial details of the buy were not disclosed, although it was pegged as a small transaction by a company spokesperson.

Rollouts Inc., located on the outskirts of Minneapolis, will help install products for Ingram’s resellers. The company said it’s installed more than half a million devices, such as point-of-sale equipment, IT routers and servers, and data and electrical cabling, at about 100,000 locations.

Rollouts Chief Executive Mark Webster will lead the services practice as director of North America Deployment Services.

The purchase plays into Chief Executive Alain Monie’s push to steer Ingram Micro into higher-margin business lines since he took the top post in early 2012. The company is the world’s largest distributor of computers, software and other technology products.
