Seoul-based Hyundai Motor Co. has named its first-ever safety officer, picking Brian Latouf, who heads that position for Fountain Valley-based Hyundai Motor North America (HMNA).
In his newly created role, Latouf will streamline the safety branches of both companies by combining their operations, from field investigations to data analysis. He will also be responsible for vehicle safety performance through Hyundai’s R&D division.
Latouf will remain based in Fountain Valley at HMNA and continue to serve as the Chief Safety Officer. He, who has more than 30 years of safety leadership experience, joined the company in 2019.
Hyundai Motor North America, which counts 520 employees in Orange County, sold 756,807 vehicles in the first half of last year, up 21% from the same period a year ago.
