Cobham’s Huntington Beach Unit Inks $72M in Contracts

The recently acquired Huntington Beach unit of U.K.-based aerospace manufacturer Cobham PLC has landed two contracts worth $72 million to make specialized military antennas.

In the first deal, the Huntington Beach division was issued a $60.7 million contract extension from U.S. Navy Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command to provide ultra-high frequency satellite communication antenna systems, mobile accessories and subassemblies.

The unit also announced a six-year purchase agreement on Monday with Thales Communications Inc. to supply satellite communications antennas for the company’s radio systems.

Thales Communications, a Maryland-based unit of French electronics company Thales Group, makes communications and software for the defense industry.

The Thales contract could result in as much as $2 million in annual revenue, Cobham said.

Cobham’s got its operations in Huntington Beach with the purchase of Trivec-Avant Corp. for $126 million cash earlier this year.

Cobham has annual revenue of about $3 billion.
