Anaheim food plant shutting down, laying off 175 workers

Hearthside's parent company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in November

Hearthside Food Solutions is permanently closing its Anaheim manufacturing facility and laying off 175 employees effective April 27, according to according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN) letter filed with the state.

Employees were notified Feb. 26 of the plant’s closure at 1153 Ocean Circle in Anaheim. The company said it was shutting down the contract manufacturing facility “due to necessary operational changes.” According to CoStar, Hearthside has leased the 106,904-square-foot plant since May 1, 2016. The lease was set to expire Aug. 1, 2026. Hearthside  makes bars, baked products and packaging.

The closure comes after Illinois-based H-Food Holdings LLC, the parent company of Hearthside, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in November. The restructuring calls for Hearthside to eliminate more than $1.9 billion of its debt.
