Software Maker Raises $14M

Irvine software maker Logical Apps Inc. has raised $14 million in a first round of venture funding.

The company said it plans to use the money to expand sales, marketing and support operations for its software.

Logical Apps sells software that helps companies automate business controls required under the Sarbanes-Oxley accounting reform act.

Menlo Park-based Sequoia Capital and San Diego-based Mission Ventures provided the funding.

Logical Apps started in 2000 and employs about 70 people. The company doesn’t disclose revenue or profits but said sales have doubled annually since for the past five years. Logical Apps is profitable, according to Chris Capdevila, chief executive and cofounder.
