The Software Council of Southern California presented 2005 Software Industry Awards to George Kurtz of Mission Viejo-based Foundstone Corp. for Chief Executive of the Year; to Chris Capdevila, cofounder and chief executive at Irvine-based Logical Apps for Entrepreneur of the Year; and to Irvine-based Epicor Software Corp. for Software Services Company of the Year.
Art Birtcher and Gabriel Ferrucci received the Bishop Tod D. Brown Award for Exemplary Business Integrity for 2005. The award was presented at the Diocese of Orange’s conference on business and ethics. Birtcher is co-chairman of Laguna Niguel-based Birtcher Real Estate Group of Cos. Ferrucci is former chief executive at Keystone Engineering Co. in Los Angeles and former division president and corporate vice president of Raybestos Manhattan.
The board of directors of the Pharmacy Foundation of California awarded the Michelotti Public Health Prize to Roger Klotz, president and chief executive of Irvine’s Specialized Clinical Services Inc. The award is sponsored by Pfizer Inc.
California State University, Fullerton, named the following alumni as honorees at its 12th Annual Vision and Visionaries Ceremony: Greg Christy, Warren McKay, Jack O’Connell, Irasema Salcido, Linda Spilker and Jubilant Sykes. The second Vision and Visionaries Corporate Partner of the Year Award was presented to Chicago-based Boeing Co. for its financial contributions to the university.
Angela Todd and Charles Todd, principals at DMG Inc. in Laguna Niguel, were named 2005 Small Business Owners of the Year at the Small Business Conference and Expo at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa.
In the second annual survey by Law & Politics and Los Angeles Magazine, Greg Dillion, cofounder of Newmeyer & Dillion LLP, was named one of Orange County’s “Top 50 Super Lawyers.” Other Newmeyer & Dillion lawyers named in the survey were “Super Lawyers” Tom Newmeyer, cofounder and business litigation partner; John O’Hara, real estate and construction litigation partner; and Tom Reilly, labor and employment partner. Joe Ferrentino and Joan Huckabone Mayer were listed as “Rising Stars.” All are at the firm’s Newport Beach headquarters.
Irvine-based RBF Consulting was presented the 2004 Professional Development Award by the Consulting Engineers and Land Surveyors of California for its continuing education programs focused on employees’ professional growth.
Foothill Ranch-based Aristos Logic Corp. received the 2005 Technology and Product Award in the Storage and Data Management category from the American Electronics Association for its RAID Storage Processor chip, the UltraSlice AL3400.
The Hearthstone Builder Lifetime Public Service Award was given to Larry Webb, chief executive of homebuilder John Laing Homes, for his philanthropic leadership.
Irvine-based Option One Mortgage Corp. received the Family Friendly Business Award from the city of Irvine in recognition for its family-friendly policies and programs. The company is a subprime mortgage lender and a unit of H & R; Block Inc.
Arts Orange County honored James D. “Jim” Young, emeritus professor of theatre at Cal State Fullerton, with a Cultural Legacy Award for lifetime achievement as an artistic visionary. Young was founding chair of the university’s Department of Theatre in 1960.
