Volunteers from HomeAid Orange County received the President’s Volunteer Service Award for their work completed on behalf of the Orange County Rescue Mission. HomeAid volunteers helped build several Rescue Mission facilities: House of Hope, Hope Family Housing and the Village of Hope in Tustin. The award was presented by Allison Young, special assistant to the president and acting director of the White House Office of USA Freedom Corps.

LPA Inc. in Irvine was honored by The Architectural Foundation of Los Angeles at the Design Green Awards. LPA was recognized for its design of the Environmental Nature Center in Newport Beach. The project is the first LEED Platinum building in Orange County and the 11th in the state. Project team members include LPA senior designer Rick D’Amato, project manager Dave Duff and project designer Ti Thang.

Tustin-based HMWC CPAs & Business Advisors was named to Inside Public Accounting’s list of the nation’s 25 best certified public accounting firms. HMWC specializes in tax consulting, business valuation and human resources services.

Yorba Linda-based Office Solutions was chosen as a winner at the Waste Reduction Awards Program, administered by the California Integrated Waste Management Board. The awards recognize businesses that have made efforts to reduce waste.

Allergan Inc.’s I-Care Campaign received a Vision Award from the Center for the Partially Sighted at the annual Hope in Sight dinner and auction. The campaign was honored for its efforts to support children and adults with significant vision loss.

Lake Forest-based Accurate Background Inc. was named to a list of 50 fastest growing technology companies in OC by Deloitte LLP. Deloitte’s ranking is based on percentage revenue growth during the past five years. Accurate Background had posted growth of 318%, placing it at No. 23 on the list. The company creates products for criminal record checks, drug testing and employment verification.

The Orange County Council, Boy Scouts of America honored Kris Mungo with a Good Scout Award at its inaugural Women’s Luncheon in Newport Beach. Mungo is a real estate investor and Eagle Scout mentor. She became a Cub Scout pack leader in 1989 and has volunteered as a summer camp organizer and unit advancement chair.

Goldline Research named Thomas Wilson to its list of Ten Most Dependable Litigation Attorneys of California. Wilson is an attorney at Pivo Halbreich Martin Wilson & Amo LLP in Costa Mesa. He specializes in business litigation. The ranking was originally published in Forbes Magazine.

Goodwill of Orange County honored Casey Tibbs, Cox Communications Inc. and Cullen Fitzgibbons at the Walter Knott Award Luncheon in Newport Beach. The event raised more than $155,000 to support Goodwill programs. Tibbs and Fitzgibbons were recognized for overcoming obstacles related to their disabilities. Cox Communications was highlighted for hiring employees with disabilities from Goodwill training programs.

The Orange County Business Committee for the Arts Inc. honored Dean Corey with the Lifetime Leadership in the Arts Award at the Business in the Arts Awards. Corey is president and artistic director of the Philharmonic Society of Orange County.

Irvine-based RYJAC Computer Solutions Inc. was named an IBM Premier Business Partner. The award is part of IBM Corp.’s PartnerWorld program. The program recognizes companies for sales performance and customer support.

Tustin Acura received the J.D. Power and Associates 2008 Dealer of Excellence Award for its effective customer care. Orange County State Legislators Todd Spitzer, Dick Ackerman, Chuck Devore and Mimi Walters attended an award presentation at the dealership. Tustin Mayor Jerry Amante made an appearance, along with Jeff Conrad, Acura’s vice president and division chief.
