Fluor Corp.’s moving date is official: Monday, April 24.
That’s when the Aliso Viejo-based engineering company will officially move its headquarters to Irving, Texas,a suburb of Dallas.
Fluor’s Texas base will have about 200 employees. It is set to keep about 1,200 workers in Aliso Viejo and Long Beach.
Workers staying in OC primarily are engineers. The move has been in the works since early last year.
OC is losing its second-largest public company by yearly sales. Fluor had revenue of $13 billion last year, second only to Santa Ana’s Ingram Micro Inc.
The engineering and construction services company got its start in Santa Ana in 1912.
Fluor is moving to Texas to be closer to customers in the oil and chemical sectors. Chief Executive Alan Boeckmann moved to Dallas in October.
