Orange-based St. Joseph Health System said today that it has named Kenneth McFarland chief executive of Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo, succeeding longtime leader Peter Bastone.
McFarland had been serving as Mission’s interim chief executive since May. He’s been an executive with the hospital since 1998, and served as chief financial officer before taking on the chief executive’s role.
McFarland played an “instrumental” role in the hospital’s 2009 buy of the former South Coast Medical Center in Laguna Beach and its conversion into Mission Hospital Laguna, according to St. Joseph Health System, which also counts St. Joseph Hospital in Orange and St. Jude Medical Center in Fullerton among its holdings in Orange County.
