Hoag, Providence Agree to Part Ways

After nearly a decade together, healthcare systems and hospital operators Hoag and Providence have agreed to “amicably” end their affiliation, according to a statement released Monday.

The affiliation will officially end by January 31, with Hoag becoming independent from Providence and Covenant Health Network.

“Although we are formally parting ways, we will have other opportunities to work together on behalf of the community,” Providence President of Operations Erik Wexler said in a statement. “We look forward to future collaborations with our colleagues at Hoag, whom we continue to hold in high regard.”

In May 2020, Hoag filed a lawsuit attempting to disaffiliate from Providence. A trial date of April 11, 2022 had been set, according to Hoag’s stipulation.
