Irvine-based Edwards Lifesciences Corp. said today that it made a pair of changes to its board of directors.
The heart valve maker appointed Kieran Gallahue, chief executive of San Diego-based device maker CareFusion Corp., to its board, effective immediately.
Edwards said current director Mike Bowlin, former chief executive of Atlantic Richfield Corp., will be retiring from the board and not seek re-election at Edwards’ annual meeting in May.
The company said in a statement that its board had been seeking qualified candidates for board service as part of normal succession planning.
Edwards’ shares were up 2% in early afternoon trading to a market value of $14 billion.
