Edwards Lifesciences Corp. executive Larry Wood is leaving the company to lead San Jose-based surgical robotics company Procept BioRobotics as its new chief executive and president, effective Sept. 1.
“I am honored to join PROCEPT BioRobotics at such a pivotal time in the Company’s growth,” Wood said in a statement. “The Company’s innovative approach to treating prostate disorders has the potential to transform the standard of care for patients worldwide.”
Wood has headed the largest business unit at Edwards, Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR), for the last 18 years.
He is succeeding Dr. Reza Zadno, who is retiring after being CEO, president and director of Procept since 2020.
Shares in Edwards rose 4% to $78.85 and a $$46.3 billion market cap (NYSE: EW).
