COVID-19 Data Continues Downward Trend

Weekly data continued to trend down for new coronavirus cases in Orange County over the weekend.

Sunday marked the seventh day in a row that the trailing seven days represented a decrease in new cases over the preceding week; 54 new coronavirus cases were reported each day on average, down from the 62 average daily cases reported for the week ending April 12.

  • For the week ending April 5, there were 58 average daily cases
  • For the week ending March 29, there were 46 cases
  • For the week ending March 22, there were 11 cases

There were 79 new cases reported Sunday and 69 reported Saturday, bringing OC’s total to 1,640, and four new deaths, bringing the local total to 32.

Nationally, there have been nearly 41,000 deaths; the Orange County per capita death rate is less than one-tenth of the national rate.
