Taco Bell Partners with Truff Hot Sauce

Irvine restaurant chain releases new menu item with Huntington Beach-based sauce creator

Taco Bell has collaborated with Costa Mesa-based hot sauce brand, Truff, to bring back a revamped version of the company’s nacho fries in a new menu item, Truff Nacho Fries.

After testing the dish back in 2021 at an Irvine location, Taco Bell will sell the nacho fries as a limited time offer starting Oct. 13 featuring its own take on Truff’s Hotter Hot Sauce.

The Truff sauce – described as a blend of real black truffles and red chili peppers with added creaminess – can also be added to other menu items through the mobile app.

The Irvine-based taco chain will also release a digital tracker on the app for users to monitor the item’s supply status in restaurants, dubbed the TRUFF Tracker. This follows the temporary pause on Taco Bell’s Mexican Pizza after the dish quickly sold out after customer orders exceeded the chain’s expectations this year.

“From the start, it was clear that [Taco Bell’s] approach to innovation defies the conventions of fast food in very unique ways,” Truff Co-Founder Nick Guillen said.

Truff was founded in 2017 by Guillen and co-CEO Nick Ajluni and is now sold at over 3,000 stores in three countries. Taco Bell Corp. is No. 1 on the Business Journal’s list of OC-based restaurant chains with almost 8,000 locations.
