Orange County’s first Ramen Nagi restaurant will open on March 17 at South Coast Plaza.
“Ramen Nagi offers authentic and innovative Japanese ramen and rich culinary heritage that we believe will be a fantastic addition to the area’s dynamic food scene and culturally vibrant community,” founder and Chef Satoshi Ikuta said in a statement.

Ikuta founded Ramen Nagi in 2004 and opened his first shop in Tokyo; now he counts more than 35 restaurants in Asia and the U.S.
The Costa Mesa location will be the Japanese ramen chain’s sixth spot in California joining others in Los Angeles and San Diego. Ramen Nagi’s first U.S. restaurant opened in Palo Alto in 2018.
The ramen bowls are customizable by broth flavor, noodle types, protein options and toppings. The restaurant will offer a limited-edition ramen during the opening week.
South Coast Plaza is Orange County’s largest shopping center with around 280 stores and annual taxable sales of $2.5 billion.
Editor’s note: The original opening date has been changed to March 24.
