Costa Mesa-based chain Lazy Dog Restaurants LLC said this week it is reopening 18 of its restaurants for patio dining in a move that also brings back some 1,500 workers.
The decision follows Governor Gavin Newsom’s announcement Monday, lifting a stay-at-home order that had impacted most of the state, bringing back outdoor dining and the reopening of indoor personal care services at limited capacities.
The state had earlier placed counties within the state in different regions subject to restrictions that would only be rolled back based on ICU capacity. Monday’s announcement essentially placed restrictions back into the hands of individual counties. Orange County remains in the most restricted, purple tier.
For Lazy Dog, the reopenings and return of furloughed workers exclude its restaurants in Los Angeles County, which is not allowing outdoor dining to resume until Friday.
