Habit Burger Adds Plant-Based Options

Habit Restaurants Inc. has begun rolling out plant-based options to its menus on Monday.

The Irvine-based burger chain’s announcement follows a deal with Redwood City, Calif.-based Impossible Foods that brings the Original Impossible Burger and Impossible Bistro Burger to the Habit Burger Grill menu. The burgers are priced at $6.99 and $7.99, respectively.

“We understand our guests look to us for the latest product innovations and offerings and recently plant-based burgers have been especially popular,” Habit Restaurants Chief Brand Officer Iwona Alter said in a statement.

Habit is part of Louisville, Ky.-based Yum Brands Inc., which also owns Irvine-based Taco Bell Corp. Yum paid $375 million to add Habit to its portfolio of quick-service chains in a deal that closed in March.

Habit Burger currently counts more than 265 restaurants in 13 states and had $466 million in systemwide sales last year.
