Fashion Island Names Restaurant Replacing Hopdoddy

Telefèric Barcelona to open at the Newport Beach shopping center in summer 2026

Telefèric Barcelona, a Spanish tapas restaurant founded in 1992, is opening its first Orange County location at the Fashion Island shopping center in summer 2026.

It is taking over the space formerly occupied by Hopdoddy Burger Bar, which closed in December, on the Macy’s side of the center.

Telefèric Barcelona already counts seven locations in California and Arizona. The restaurant is led by the Padrosa family with brother-sister duo Xavi and Maria Padrosa at the helm with a team of Spanish chefs.

The Padrosa siblings both worked at their parents’ restaurant in Sant Cugat before opening their own concept in Barcelona, prior to launching Telefèric Barcelona in California.

Fashion Island, owned and managed by the Irvine Company, is Orange County’s second-largest shopping center and records annual taxable sales of $876 million.
