David Kim, co-founder and chairman of GEN Korean BBQ, is now the sole chief executive at GEN Restaurant Group Inc. (Nasdaq: GENK).
Co-founder Jae Chang stepped down from his role as co-CEO on Jan. 8 and remains on the restaurant chain’s board. Both executives took the company public in 2023.
“It has been a privilege to build GEN Korean BBQ alongside David since opening our very first location in 2011,” Chang said in a statement. “I’m proud of all we’ve accomplished together, and I look forward to watching the company continue to thrive.”
The first location of GEN Korean BBQ was in Tustin. It has a current market cap of $237 million with shares around $7.24 during midday trading.
“As GEN continues its upward trajectory, we look forward to building upon the strong foundation Jae helped lay,” Kim added. “We have an experienced team in place to continue executing our growth strategy and take the company to new heights.”
The Cerritos-based restaurant chain, serving all-you-can-eat raw meats, poultry, seafood and mixed vegetables to cook at the table, posted third quarter revenue of $49 million in November.
