Irvine-based Java Bakery Café plans to open its third location in Lake Forest on Saturday, with a fourth to follow in Mission Viejo in January and a fifth in Corona del Mar later in 2015, the company said.
Husband and wife founders and owners Sinasi and Gulay Senbay came to the United States and bought the Irvine location—their first—from another company in 2013.
The chain is focused on growing an upscale café chain in south Orange County, Gulay Senbay said.
She said the couple had worked in retail bakeries in Germany before immigrating and wanted to run “European-style” bakery cafés.
Java serves only organic coffee, and French and German pastries.
All stores so far are company-owned but the Senbays plan to franchise.
“We do want to grow beyond what we can do,” she said.
Lake Forest Mayor Dwight Robinson is scheduled to attend the 10 a.m. grand opening this Saturday, and there will be free coffee and pastries, she said.
