Quiksilver Sells Online Retailer to Rival

Quiksilver Inc. sold online retailer Surfdome.com in the United Kingdom to Australia-based rival SurfStitch for $16 million.

Surfdome, founded in 2006, is “focused predominantly on surf, snow and outdoor activities, and also creates editorial content that features the lifestyle and fashion that surround these sports,” according to the company. It had $60 million in sales for the 12-month period ending in October.

The retailer’s founder, Justin Stone, will continue to run its operations.

The deal follows the Huntington Beach-based footwear and apparel company’s announcement last year that it’s planning to divest its ownership stake in Surfdome to focus on the Quiksilver, Roxy and DC brands.
