New York-based environmental-software company FirstCarbon Solutions Inc. acquired Irvine-based environmental consultancy Michael Brandman Associates.
Financial terms weren’t detailed.
The deal makes Michael Brandman Associates founder and Chief Executive Michael Brandman a principal in FirstCarbon. Michael Brandman Associates’ local office will become the North American headquarters for FirstCarbon.
The Business Journal ranked Michael Brandman Associates as the 23rd largest environmental-consulting firm in Orange County last year with $7 million in OC billings and $14.6 million companywide. The firm had 46 employees.
Its clients include public agencies and private companies.
Services include environmental and sustainability planning, regulatory compliance, natural-resource management, cultural-resource management, restoration planning and monitoring, and water-resource management, among others.
FirstContact is a unit of ADEC Group Inc., a global business-management services provider based in the Philippines.
FirstCarbon specializes in sustainability software used in data reporting.
James Donovan, chief executive of ADEC and FirstCarbon, touted the Brandman firm’s “comprehensive environmental consulting solutions.” Integrating the firm will allow access to important data across a broader swath of environmental segments, Donovan said.
“The combination of data, software and subject matter expertise is [key in] connecting sustainability, reducing costs and supporting economic development,” Michael Brandman said. “Michael Brandman Associates and FirstCarbon Solutions share a common belief in the game-changing impact of merging extensive data, software and environmental expertise to provide fully integrated service offerings.”
Founded in 1982, Michael Brandman Associates also has offices in San Bernardino, Fresno, Palm Springs, Sacramento and San Ramon. The company’s name is being retired, and it will operate as part of FirstCarbon Solutions.
